We’ve all heard (and seen) this before. Even the best “ideas” can translate to horrible pieces of advertising if they are not produced b y someone with artistic skill, layout & design experience and an understanding of advertising methods. So the million dollar question isn’t “Can I afford Creative Services” as much as it is, “Can I afford not to purchase Creative Services”.

Always (literally) get a cost estimate from your designer. They may charge $75/hr, but end up taking 5 hours to do a 2 hour job.  In the case of a Direct Mail Promotion, 2 hours should cover it.  If they want more, make sure you understand why.  If you’re asking for custom illustration work or a Logo Design as part of your piece the cost can escalate quickly. Understand what you’re getting for your money.
